Bugyō is a game that takes inspiration from the first ever card game introduced to Japan
in the late 1500s named Karuta (かるた). With card styling reminscent of Karuta, Battle
Board Games created our very own unique game!
You play the role of a Bugyō
(奉行), or "magistrate", living in medieval Japan collecting taxes in the form of Koku
(rice) from local villagers, which you will convert to the Japanese coin currency which
was called MON (文) during that time period. But be wary, because there is another
magistrate competing against you in collecting taxes as well! The Bugyō who collects the
most taxes by the end of the game wins! This is an all ages game that involves quick
mental calculation while taking an adventure through a small town in Japan.
